How much does it cost to send an SMS in Australia?

How many characters can I send in one SMS?
A standard SMS holds 160 characters. Longer messages are split into parts and joined on the phone, and each part is charged as one SMS. Emoji and some special characters reduce a part to 70 characters.
Can customers reply to my messages?
Yes. Send from a dedicated number to receive replies in the Chatti portal, by email or by webhook into your own systems.
Do I need to register my sender name?
Yes, if you send from a business name rather than a number. Since 1 July 2026 the ACMA SMS Sender ID Register applies, and messages from unregistered names can be labelled Unverified or blocked. Chatti helps you register.
Do I earn Qantas Points on SMS?
Yes. You earn 2 Qantas Points per $1 spent on SMS, plus a 25,000 point welcome bonus when you spend $1,000 in your first 90 days. A Qantas Business Rewards membership is required, and the join fee is waived for Chatti customers.
